Tacoma German Language School Coronavirus Protocols

Dear Parents and Students,

Tacoma German Language School is excited to invite everyone on back to in-person classes! To keep everyone safe, TGLS has implemented safety protocols in accordance with the CDC and State of Washington. We are doing everything we can to keep everyone safe and continue to offer classes. While children’s classes are currently only offered in-person, the adult classes can be attended either in-person or online. Please contact the principal at TGLS_tacoma@outlook.com. Below are TGLS’s safety protocols:

-Students and Faculty will have temperatures checked by infrared thermometers upon arriving to school.

-Students and Faculty will wash hands/use sanitizer upon arriving to school and throughout the day.

-TGLS will follow masking recommendations from the CDC, Washington state and Pierce County Health Departments. At this time, everyone entering the school must wear a mask, regardless of vaccination status.

-The school will provide separate supply kits for children to use.

-Students and faculty will practice physical distancing and use bigger classroom spaces to accommodate this.

-TGLS will limit class sizes to not more than 8 students.

-TGLS will open doors/ windows for fresh air when possible.

-Teachers will be encouraged to use google classroom to share materials.

-Adult classes will offer in-person classes with live-streaming capabilities. Please indicate on the registration form if you will be attending online.

-Paperwork/registration forms need to be filled out before first day of class. There will be no in-person registration on the first day of class.

-No indoor events. When it is possible, TGLS will offer outdoor events. This may change in the future upon the recommendation of the CDC and Washington State/Pierce County health departments.

-In the event of a positive covid test, TGLS will be notified immediately. TGLS will then email and mail a notice to all students and faculty and shut down for 10 days. When possible, days will be made up at the end of the semester.

-TGLS reserves the right to go to only online classes in the event of a county or state-wide outbreak. TGLS will provide a pro-rated refund to those who cannot continue with online-only classes.
